Sam Fender Is Coming to Cardiff – and Welsh Fans Face a Race for Tickets

The singer-songwriter will bring his Proper Massive Stadium Tour to the Principality Stadium in June 2027, with Wunderhorse joining him as special guests.

If you’ve been waiting for the chance to sing Seventeen Going Under at the top of your lungs alongside thousands of other Sam Fender fans, your moment is coming.

The North Shields singer-songwriter is heading to Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Thursday 10th June, bringing one of the biggest tours of his career to the Welsh capital. And with just one Cardiff date currently announced, fans will need to be ready when tickets go on sale.

Appropriately named the Proper Massive Stadium Tour, the 2027 run will also take Sam to Newcastle’s St James’ Park, Wembley Stadium in London, Edinburgh’s Murrayfield and Manchester’s Etihad Stadium. British alternative rock band Wunderhorse will join him as special guests at the UK stadium shows.

Tickets for all of Sam Fender’s 2027 shows, including Cardiff, can be found HERE.

For Cardiff, it promises to be another huge night at a venue that knows a thing or two about unforgettable singalongs.

A voice made for a stadium

Sam Fender’s rise from North Shields songwriter to stadium headliner has been built on songs that feel both intensely personal and big enough to unite an entire crowd.

There’s a directness to his writing that makes it easy to connect with. He sings about family, friendship, growing up, grief and the pressures of everyday life, often drawing on the people and places that have shaped him.

But while the stories might start close to home, the emotions travel much further. Add soaring guitars, a powerful voice and choruses that are made to be sung back at him, and it’s easy to understand why his shows have become such a draw.

Songs including Seventeen Going Under, Hypersonic Missiles, Getting Started and People Watching have helped build a devoted following. Exactly what makes the Cardiff setlist remains to be seen, but there will be no shortage of songs fans will be hoping to hear.

His third album, People Watching, reached number one and won the 2025 Mercury Prize. More recently, his duet with Olivia Dean on Rein Me In spent a record-breaking 23 non-consecutive weeks at number one, according to the Principality Stadium’s tour announcement. That extraordinary success has introduced his music to an even wider audience.

Expect a rush for tickets

Let’s be honest: getting a ticket for this one could take some determination.

Sam’s popularity, his reputation as a live performer and the fact that Cardiff is the tour’s only currently announced Welsh stop all point towards strong demand. A stadium might be a big venue, but there will be plenty of fans across Wales and beyond hoping to be in the crowd.

The general sale opens at 9.30am on Friday 30th October 2026. There is also an album presale at 9.30am on Wednesday 28th October for fans who qualified before the registration deadline. Access to the presale does not guarantee a ticket.

If you’re planning to try, it’s worth setting up or checking your ticket account in advance, making sure your payment details are ready and deciding what you’re happy to spend. There is a limit of six tickets per person and household for the Cardiff show.
