As Wales marks Clean Air Day on Thursday, 19th June 2025, Caerphilly-based ventilation specialist Nuaire is urging communities across the nation to prioritise the quality of the air inside their homes, schools, workplaces and more.
Clean Air Day is the UK’s largest air pollution campaign. While much attention is rightly given to outdoor air pollution, Nuaire is highlighting the often-overlooked issue of indoor air quality. With people spending up to 90% of their time indoors, the air we breathe inside our homes and workplaces plays a crucial role in our overall health and wellbeing.
The obvious risk to health is respiratory based, which has the greatest impact in the young, old and those with existing respiratory conditions, including asthma. But air pollution can harm every organ, can shorten our lives, and contribute towards chronic illness.

Meirion Richards, Managing Director at Nuaire told us..
“Indoor air pollution is an invisible challenge that affects us all. Pollutant sources within our indoor environments vary hugely, from cleaning products and cooking through to furniture and even the fabric our homes are made from. And, of course, we have the issue of trapped condensation that can lead to potentially dangerous mould. These potentially harmful pollutants can accumulate in large quantities, especially in modern well-sealed, energy-efficient buildings. Good ventilation can disperse and expel indoor pollutants, as well as helping prevent damp and mould from forming.”
Nuaire, a proud Welsh manufacturer with deep roots in the community, has been at the forefront of developing energy-efficient ventilation solutions since 1966. Its systems are designed to reduce indoor pollutants, prevent damp and mould, and provide a consistent supply of fresh, filtered air.
As part of Clean Air Day 2025, Nuaire encourages Welsh residents and businesses to:
- Reduce indoor pollution sources: Be mindful of activities that contribute to indoor air pollution, such as smoking indoors, burning candles, or using certain cleaning products.
- Improve ventilation: Ensure your home or workplace has adequate ventilation. This can be as simple as opening windows regularly or investing in mechanical ventilation.
- Stay informed: Utilise resources like the Air Quality in Wales website to monitor local air quality levels and understand the factors affecting them.

Meirion added….
“Clean Air Day is a reminder that improving air quality is a shared responsibility. By taking simple steps, we can all contribute to healthier indoor environments and a better quality of life for our communities.”
